Rules and Misc. Information

 

RULES

1.     First Flight handicappers tee off from the blue tees, all other flights from the white tees, all ladies from the red tees.

2.     Ball shall be played as it lies, except as otherwise provided in the USGA Rules or Local Rules.

3.     Local Riverview Golf Course rules take precedence over USGA rules.  A Riverview G.C. professional shall make any final rulings.

4.     In case of a rainout, 9 hole makeup rounds or partial round/hole completion will be decided by the tournament directors (Copeland & Santucci).  A partial round completion must be completed prior to the following week’s outing.  One of the tournament directors will be present at the partial make-up round. 

5.     If one night or more is a complete rain out it will be the decision of the tournament directors to make up rounds to reach the eight week flight point schedule.  Therefore each half season schedule may be less than eight weeks.

6.     It will be the decision of Riverview Golf Course Management & the City of  Mesa to offer full or partial rain checks to twilight golfers.

 

9 HOLE HANDICAP

1.     SRPGA established handicap divided by two.  After each monthly SRPGA tournament, handicaps are reviewed by the SRPGA handicap chairman, if a player’s 18 hole SRPGA handicap changes than his summer league handicap will change also.  Golfers will remain in the same flight as at the start of each eight week season.  A member of the Twilight League may establish a Twilight League handicap without belonging to the SRPGA.  A player must turn in 5 twilight league scores to establish this handicap.    

 

PRIZES and GUESTS

1.     All prizes will be gift certificates to the Riverview Golf Course shop.

2.     To participate in accumulative point standings(flights), golfer must be a twilight member and have a twilight league handicap.

3.     GUESTS will pay the full amount (green fees & prize fund) but will be eligible for nightly skill prizes only.

4.     GUESTS and a member may participate in the scramble nights but the team is eligible for skill prizes only. The guest must pay the normal green fees & prize fund amount plus an additional amount ($6.00)for the pizza dinner.

 

ALL PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED BY the end of September  unless additional weeks are needed to make up rain delays.  Standings & skill prize winners will be tracked in the weekly golf reports.

 

SKILL PRIZES

1.     # 2 & 8th Hole-Par 3-Closest to the pin (ON THE GREEN) with your FIRST tee shot.

 

2.     #1, # 3 hole-Par 4, # 4 hole-Par 5,  #6 hole-Par 5 and # 7 hole-Par 4- Longest putt made from on the green.

 

3.     # 5 & # 9 hole-Par 4- closest to the pin (on the green) in two strokes -Note: A golfer landing the ball on the green on the first tee shot will have one more shot to move the ball closer to the hole.  On #5 a golfer hitting it to the left out of bounds(across the white stakes imaginary line) is ineligible for this skill prize because he used his 2nd stroke as a penalty stroke.   A golfer hitting into the water or out of bounds on #9 with his tee shot is ineligible for this skill prize because he used his 2nd stroke as a penalty stroke.

 

 

FLIGHT WINNERS

 

FLIGHTS SHALL BE DETERMINED BY HANDICAP -- Handicap ranges, # of flights and number of golfers in each flight  may vary to balance number of players in each flight.

1.     1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th PLACE IN TOTAL POINT STANDINGS FOR EACH FLIGHT WILL BE AWARDED GIFT CERTIFICATES TO RIVERVIEW GOLF COURSE.

2.     Nightly Flight points (Low net) -1ST PLACE- 5 Pts., 2nd PLACE- 4 Pts., 3rd Place- 3 Pts, 4th PLACE- 2 Pt.,5th PLACE- 1 Pt., 1 Pt. for each of the eight skill prizes, 1 Pt. for playing and submitting signed scorecard.  Example- Golfer wins 1st place net score in the flight and 2 skill prizes- Total pts. = 8---(5(1st place) +2(skill prizes) +1(playing that night & turning in a signed scorecard)

3.     TIE BREAKERS(two golfers)-Nightly Flight Winners-Matching scorecards(match play) for the complete nine holes using full handicaps.  If the tie remains after nine holes a sudden-death beginning with the first hole will occur.  If a tie still remains the points(1st Place Pts. & 2nd PlacePts. divided by two or 2nd & 3rdPlace Pts. divided by two, etc.) will be equally divided.  For tiebreakers with three or more golfers a sudden death matching scorecards from Hole #1 will occur.  If a tie still remains the points will be equally divided as above.

 

 

1)     FLIGHTS- PRIZE FUND for tied flight players will equal to the sum of the percentage payoff for 1,2,3rd,4th ,5th and 6th place divided by number of players.

(For example—if three players tie for first—the 1st,2nd and 3rd place payoffs will be divided by three; if two players tie for 6th place they will divide 6th place by two)

2)     Prize payoff for each flight will be 1ST- 25 %, 2ND- 21 % , 3RD- 18 %, 4TH-15 % , 5TH –12 % AND 6TH- 9 % OF THE TOTAL FLIGHT FUND. EACH FLIGHT’S  FUND  AMOUNT WILL BE BASED ON THE TOTAL NUMBER OF GOLFERS

(# OF GOLFERS TIMES $6 MINUS SKILL PRIZES) PLAYING IN THAT SPECIFIC FLIGHT OVER 8  WEEKS(or less if rained out).

 

TEAM(two person teams only) COMPETITION NIGHTS:      

 

1)     Rules and prize payouts for the scramble will be published prior to the contest.  Skill prizes will remain. Nightly green fee and prize fund will be the same as a regular night. Registration fee will pay for the pizza dinner.

2)     Places and payout will be determined by number of teams entered.

3)      GUESTS  and their team partner are eligible for skill prizes only.  The guest will pay the normal green fees and prize fund amount.  The guest will be required to pay $ 6.00 if they stay for diner.

4)     Tiebreakers to be determined as above(Note #3-Flight Winners).

 

AT THE END OF THE ROUND, Please turn signed scorecards in to Tom Copeland, Bill Santucci or designated individual.  IF EVERYONE HAS LEFT PLEASE turn in to RIVERVIEW PROSHOP. Thanks and good luck!

 

HOLE-IN-ONE RULES

1)    Golfer must make the hole-in-one on the first stroke playing the hole.

2)    Besides a par 3 hole, a hole-in-one may occur on any hole.

3)    Hole-in-One Fund Prize is equal to the Hole-in-One fund divided by the number of Holes-In-One at end of Twilight Season.
